I often resize images in illustrator and then copy the image into my photoshop file. Sometimes I don't get the size just right and I need to go back into illustrator, resize again and then copy the new info into photoshop until I get the size just right. Recently, I've been having trouble with this because photoshop will only remember the original information that I copy. Even after I restart both programs, I'll go back and try to copy the correct info from illustrator and paste into photoshop and it still only remembers the original information that I copied. Has anyone else had this problem. I'm using Illustrator 9 and Photoshop 6.

>>I often resize images in illustrator<<

Are these images originally created in PS or AI?

You've also got the problem of resolution. In PS, it is a consideration, in AI it isn't.

Before I can suggest anything it would be useful to know what sort of images you are dealing with.

Yes, these images that I'm referring to are originally created in illustrator and they're vector images. The resolution issue is the reason why I resize in illustrator. If I resize in illustrator, I don't lose any resolution when I copy into photoshop. If I try to resize in photoshop, that's when I lose resolution. However, the problem is when I don't get it sized correctly the first time in illustrator and I go back and resize a second time, it doesn't allow me to copy that information. It only remembers the info from the first time that I copy.

Why take the image from PS back into AI?

Why not just go directly back to the AI image and resize there?

When you bring the AI image into PS, aren't you asked to rasterise? If so, I am assuming you are making the resolution equal that of the existing PS image? If not, the rasterised AI image will resize if the resolutions are not equal.

Are you resizing on a pixel basis or a inches/cms one? If you know the pixel dimaensions you want the AI image to fit into in PS, can't you set that when you bring the image from AI to PS and rasterise?

I don't take the ps back into ai. I go back to ai to resize and that's where my problem lies. When I go back to ai to resize, and then I try to copy the new info from ai and then paste into ps, it won't read the new information from ai. It continues to paste the original information. Even if I restart both programs and try to start again. That's the problem.

I missed the bit that said you were copying and pasting. I think that may be where your problem lies. Can you OPEN the AI image in PS and then copy it to the other PS document?

Yes, that's what I'll try. It's just so strange because I've done the copy and paste thing from ai to ps for years and it's always worked great. I never had a problem until the last 6 mos. so I just wondered if anyone else had heard of the problem.
