i wish to copy my works hard drive system it has 2 hard drives "c" 10gb and "d" 60gb I have purchased a 120gb western digital 7200 ide harddrive.

i wish to do this so that i can work on the system as a test bench and learning platform.

i have ideas but would like anyones input into the best way of getting the copy of the original harddives over. I had thought of wether to partion my new drive c and d and copy to them, but not sure if i can do it that way all help really appreciated.

thanks in anticipation

Are there different OS's on the Partition's?
You could always try using software, such as Norton Ghost or Powerquest Drive Image.
If one is an OS & the other just data, partitioning your hard drive should work, but remember that if you are using this OS on another computer system you should get a licence for it. Not to do so would be piracy, which you shouldn't be doing.

Hi:

My PC motherboard is failing. It is cheaper to buy a new computer than to repair it! Unfortunately I do not have a recent backup. Can I hook up the C-drive to another computer and create a copy of the files? Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks a lot

To monaandkristy,
The simple answer is YES. You can do a few things, but the easiest would be to change the jumpers on your old hard drive & connect it up as a slave on the new computer. You should be able to transfer your files with no problem.
