I have created a service which copies a file to a network share. The service runs as a user that has both full control to the share and at the NTFS level.

In XP the copy fails (with no error), but does work on a Windows 2000 machine. Also the copy works when copying locally, and will work when run manually to a network share.

Any ideas?

Do not copy to a mapped drive, but the the UNC:

\\computername\sharename
