I asked this once and someone's reply was "Import/Export". I'm not really sure what that means.

What I want to do is copy a group of users and their role from one SQL Server 2k database to another. Is there a painless method of doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Expand Data Transformation Services in EM, right click on Local Packages and choose New Packages. Once in the package designer select Transfer Logins Tasks and proceed.

The other solution is to script the logins at the source and run the script at the destination.

Hope this helps.

When going through the steps above using the Data Transformation Services, I get a message saying that the source and destination server cannot be the same.

This is between databases on the same server.
