I have the seemingly simple task of copying all user tables, data, referential integrity, constraints etc from a database on one server, to a database on another server. I have dbowner permission on both databases.
I am using the 'Copy SQl Server Object task' to do this. There are no complaints during the wizard when setting up the task.
On execution, the task is failing to complete.
The tables on the destination server are created but not populated.
On attempting to review the package logs, I right click on the package, hit 'package logs' and there are none to select from in the dropdown list ?
If I can view the package logs, I am half a chance of finding and fixing the error.
Thanks

Is there any primary key constatints? There are some instance some peopele drop the contsratins and insert some vlaues and enable constatrains. In that case there might be some duplicate values. Try to execute using DataTrasnformatin Management Export/Import, when you go through the steps, I will show you steps of creating and inserts values. So you can see where it failed.

Good Luck.

I think the problem was on the last configuration screen where I had 'use default options' flagged. This included copying of Users/Roles/Logins etc and I think this is where it came to grief. I unticked all security options and it worked. All Data/Keys/Constaints/Relationships was copied. Not that I can see why the first package failed as I still cannot find the package logs. The Package log list is empty?
Thanks

Have you enabled DTS logging in the DTS package? Open DTS package in design mode, deselect all objects in the DTS package, right click somewhere in white (unoccupied) space, select "Package Properties", select "Logging" tab then enable logging to SQL server. Think that's how its done (but may not be available SQL 7)
