Hello, I have spent a considerable amount of time configuring GPO's on the 2003 domain for various groups within the organisation. My question is this, Can I copy a GPO so when a new group is created with slightly different rights required I don't need to create a new GPO. All I want is top have a template if you like and tweak it slightly as required for different groups as and when they are created.

Many Thanks,
BigTM.

Yes .... and No

Using the Group Policy Management Console
(If you don't have it go out and download it, it is a must have tool.)

1. Right-mouse-click on the GPO you wish to use as your template and select 'Backup...'.
Name it something logical. ie. Tmplt-NewGrp

2. Next create an empty(default) GPO for the new group.

3. Right-mouse-click on the new GPO and select 'Import Settings...'

4. Follow the Import Wizards prompts selecting the 'template' you created in step 1.

Done!!

Hope this helps.

Thanks
