copy pervasive database files to a different machine

I am wanting to setup a lab environment so as to do some testing with a script i am writing that will do some updates to my existing pervasive database. I know i could setup a dummy database on exisiting server but i need to have the exact tables and data etc ... to work from. I will also be doing all this work from a totally different location or building . My question is can i make a copy of the existing database files and put them on my lab environment server and PCC will be able to open it and all the tables and data be intact ?

or is there a better best practice solution to this problem ?

If the copy would work what all files do i need to copy ?
i am new to pervasive and am still a little confused about what all files are associated with the operation of the database.

Short answer is that yes, you can copy the DDFs and data files from your production server to your test server, create a database in the PCC and access that data. You will need a Pervasive engine running on the lab machine.
As far as which files, that depends on your application. You can look in the PCC at the database properties for your existing database and find the data path and dictionary path. You'll need the DDFs from the dictionary path and the data files from the data path. The DDF and data path may be the same and that's okay.
