Hi there

When I copy and paste a project between two templates any task which has mulitiple predecessors with different lags in the original always ends up with the same lag value for each predecessor after it has been pasted.

For example, Original Task 5 - 4fs+1w, 3fs+2w, 2fs+2w

becomes Pasted Task 5 - 4fs+1w, 3fs+1w, 2fs+1w

Why is this? Is there a workaround or different way to pull a project into a new template without losing the original lag times?

Thanks, Sandra

I just did a quick test and everything was copied and pasted correctly.

One unexpected (but not erroneous) behaviour was a change to the presentation sequence in the Predecessors column.

In the original I had: 4FS+1 wk,3FS+2 wks,2FS+2 wks
In the copy/paste I got: 2FS+2 wks,3FS+2 wks,4FS+1 wk

This was tested with P2003.

fyi, here was the testing sequence I used:

1. Create schedule with tasks and lags.
2. Save info as PRJtest.MPT file.
3. Exit Project
4. Start Project
5. File | Open PRJtest.MPT
6. Click on New project button to open blank project
7. Switch to MPT window, highlight and copy all tasks
8. Switch to blank project window and paste all tasks

Hi PDQBach

Thanks for your efforts. We are using Project 2000 not 2003 and eventhough I followed your instructions to the letter it still came up with all the lags being the same as the first. Is this something that has been fixed in newer versions?

I don't have access to a machine with P2000 so I can't test it. I don't know if this is a known bug or not.

If you've got a spare machine ... go here:

and download a 60-day trial version and test to see if it solves your problem.

You should do the test on a machine that you can reimage when the test is fnished because I don't know what happens if that machine already has P2000 on it and the P2003 trial version expires.
