When I copy a message from Outlook and paste into a memo field I usually get the error message "This is not an rtf file". Then I'll use memo pad to save the text as rtf and paste that into the memo field and often get the error message "Characters not supported".

Is there a way to do this copy/paste routine easily?

What version of Paradox are you using?

Have you tried using the mail type to read the inbox? Does it not work for you?

What a coincidence. I have a similar question. Inquiring minds and all that. (and a bit of an answer for the above)

Why won't Paradox(11 or some such version..X3 at any rate) accept cut and paste from any email - Outlook, Eudora, web mail - or any web page without it first being pasted into say a Word document and recopied? It's not a big deal, but I keep wondering.

Now the answer. Paradox is persnickety. Kind of like a fussy eater. It doesn't like carrots but it will eat turnips, etc. There are a few characters it just won't accept. Among them are ", ' (some but not all). - (some but not all), ( and ), other non letters. You can get it a little tamer by fooling with the character set. I believe ascii intl is about as good as you are going to get, but my solution is Clipmate (awesome little app) ( using the clean up feature. You choose which characters you want to replace and clipmate deletes them all, so you can paste into Paradox.

I am sure there are other good programs for this.

If you are careful about what you hilite, Paradox WILL accept many things from web pages it doesn't seem to like at first.

If you hilite exactly to the end of text, and don't go beyone - to another line, say - you'll find that Paradox accepts the paste.

The difference? Paradox won't work with NULL; and that bare line you don't realize you are hiliting because nothing is there appears to most often contain NULL.

I find that I am most successful if I start at the END of the portion I wish to copy and move to the beginning. I'm less likely to accidentally drag to that next line.

Does this clear up some or all of your issue?
