Hi how do I do this? Many thanks, Sam

...two ways...

option 1
create effect as normal and with object selected make an "object style" (window > object styles), click the new style button icon bottom right of palette, then apply that style to another object. Editing the "Object Style" (double click in the list") will affect all objects globally that have that style applied.

option 2
with an object selected that has effects applied, open the "effects" palette (window > effects), then drag the "Object: Normal" section in that palette onto another color filled object.

...option one is arguably better as it allows easier editing further down the workflow...
