We are starting to plan a new project. We need to determine the feasiblity of the following scenario.
1. The client has a parent site with asp(classic) and html pages with static content.
2. The client wants his customers to create a sub-site under his site.
3. Each customer will be able to create his own subsite, but the content will be borrrowed from the parent site, the only changes will be in the color scheme, header and footer. Rest of the sub-site should look exactly like the parent site.

We were researching the best methods to do this. I was wondering if there are people out there who have done a similar task, what we want to do is for each customer, create a site with customized header and footer, but standard content derived from parent site.
All this should be done on the fly, as the main site content changes frequesntly.

Any ideas??
We are open to suggestions..
thanks
Sid

Have a look into master pages. They can be used to control the look and feel of a site, with the content (i.e. a child page) being placed in certain sections.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Unfortunately we dont have any control over the Main Site, its designed and controlled by a different department.
We need a generic solution where the changes to parent site are minimal.
Thanks again..
Any more thoughts?

If you can't inherit pages from the master site, then the only option would be to either recreate the look of the parent site or use some sort of httpWebRequest to the master site, parse the contents and use the relevant sections to rebuild the child page. It's not a very elogant solution though and I probably wouldn't recommend it!
