copy move records process hangs

If I am moving or copying a group of records from database a to database b, the process hangs at the step "Scanning ContGrps" with 0 records and 0 updates. I can move or copy the 'current record' just fine. Whazzup?

I discovered that there were one and a half MILLION records in the contgrps table! (Accumulation of years). I cleared out contgrps with SQL Query, and now the copy/move process runs like it Deere.
