Hello all,

Not sure if this is the best place for this, but I figured it was worth a shot.

My old computer's hard drive had my entire iTunes library. That motherboard died, but I took the hard drive out and put it in an external enclosure and connected it to my new computer. It reads the hard drive fine, except for the "Documents and Settings\Dan" directory, to which it says Access Denied. This is where the music library (and other stuff) appears to be.

Why do I get this error, and is there some way to get access to it?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, you'll need to take ownership of the folder as described in the following Microsoft article. After that you'll have access to the folders, and you can just point iTunes to the "My Music" folder and it should recreate your library.
