Copy from Acrobat pdf file.

I am trying to copy sections of a pdf file. The file has no security - copying, printing etc. allowed.
Any attempt to copy results in gibberish. Therte are 3 true type fonts embedded and it appears that the file was not produced by Acrobat but GNU prop.
The file is confidential material so I'm stuck with doing this, any help would be appreciated.
