Hi all,

I have recentely installed some pc's at work which are used by members of the public and as such are not on the companies domain. They are on a workgroup but are allocated Ip address via dhcp. I need to copy some files to the pc's, but rather than doing them one at a time (theres 120+ pc's), is it possible to script this if I have a list of host names and/or ipaddress?

thanks very much!

it should not be any different as long as you have a user name and a password.

A common username and password would save you lots of time.

You just said you need to copy files to them, you did not say mention if they were located a different places thru out the pc. If you just need to get them on the pc then just add a share and copy them there.

Thanks for the info.
The files I need to add are one to c:\program files and the other is the system.adm in the local group policy folder, so yes, all in the same place. As for usernames and passwords, the pc's are all based on a sysprep image which I have depolyed, so using the local admin account should work?

I will have to run the script at around 1am as this is a time that deepfreeze will be in a non frozen state.. Can you recommend a good way to do this?
thanks

Scripting.filesystemobject support file copy using unc. If you have difficulty to establish connection to \\hostname\sharename, you can first run
[tt] net use \\hostname\ipc$ /user:username password[/tt]
If its execution is successful, you can thereafter copy file via unc. Detail check out "net use" documentation for ipc$ connection.
