I NEED TO COPY FILES FROM MY CD-ROM BUT I CAN'T FIND THE DIRECTORY THAT MY CD-ROM IS ON.THE ONLY WHY I CAN USE THE CD-ROM IS IF I GO TO ADMIN AND GO TO THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM, BUT I DON'T NEED TO INSTALL ANY THING I JUST NEED TO COPY SOME FILES FROM MY CD-ROM.

The CDROM has to be mounted first (map the CDROM to a place on your disk called a "mount point"). It depends on the flavor of unix you're using, but the general form is:

mount <device name> <mount point>

You can try:

# mount /dev/cdrom /mnt

Now (if this worked) you will be able to access the content of the cdrom through /mnt. The above works on my Linux Redhat 6.2 box. However, /dev/cdrom may not be the device name on your system and you may have to specify a file system type (e.g. -F cdfs). Have a look at the manual page for mount for further info.
