I'm trying to move one of our company databases to another server, but I'm struggling to use the wizard.

I've set up an sql user that can connect to both databases as an admin user. And I'm trying to use this to copy the data.

It connects to both databases fine, but then comes up with the following error:

"Your SQL Server Service is running under the local system account. You need to change your SQL Server Service account to have the rights to copy files over the network."

How do I do that? It isn't very helpfull in explaining what I need to actually do.

If you go to control panal --- System management -- Services
You will see your MSSQLSERVER (Your instance name ,might be MSSQL$SQL2000) is logged as "local system".You should change the logging account from local system to Lan User account (need to have sysadmin permission)
Also see your SQLServerAgent logged user should be local system ,too.Same, change it to your Lan user account

Since you said you have set up an sql user that can connect to both databases as an admin user.Change both of the logged account to this user in both computer.
Dont forget to restart the services!
