Hi

I have a exchange server in our US office which will be replictaed using Double Take to our UK office for DR.

I need to get the edb and stm files from the US to the UK and wondered the best way to do it. We use veritas 12.5 and thought about backup and restore to a temp folder but according to symantec cant be done so If i just unmount the store and copy then paste to a USB drive would this be acheivable ? or am i creating issues for myself ?

All double take needs is a copy of the edb and stm files as their software mirrors the groups etc.

Many thanks

Dave

If you stop all Exchange services and copy the EDB and STM files you will be fine in terms of files though I've never tried doing it for a doubletake deployment. Technically it will give you the content, actually I don't know how doubletake will react or whether you'd also need the logs and checkpoint file.

Many thanks, I'll go that route

I spoke to Double take and they said, just the edb and stm files, there software does the rest (fingers crossed)

Thanks Again

Dave

Then I'd say that you should stop the services rather than dismount and you'll be fine.
