I can Copy and Paste graphics from TAFE computers and I used to be able to do it from my home computer. However somwhere along the way a setting or somthing has happened and I can not longer Copy and Paste from my computer.
I did a total format and reinstallation about 2 weeks ago to fix some other problems and I was hoping this would be solved too. However I still can't Copy and Paste graphics. I can Copy and Paste text to my hearts content. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks Lynda

Hi Lynda,

Could you clarify what you are actually doing? Are you trying to copy from IE or Netscape (or someother), and what are you attempting to paste to?

In IE, if you right-click with the mouse on an image, is the option "Copy" available in the popup, is it greyed out or simply not there? (Similar for Netscape)

If you want to insert the image into another document (HTML or Word etc) another method you can try is to right-click on the image and choose "Save Picture As...", save it to your PC and then insert the image with whatever editor you are using.

I use Internet Exporer 5.
I was able to copy any article including both graphics and text by right clicking and selecting Copy then opening a Word document and right clicking and selecting Paste. This would transfer all the highlighted information to the Word document. Now I select the information open the Word document and Paste and all I get is the text. The graphic shows up as an empty space. If I mouse click on where the graphic should be I then get the outline box up but no graphic. I tried your suggestion of "Save Picture as" I saved it to My Pictures folder and saved the graphic as a jpeg I opened the Word document went to the My Pictures folder and opened the graphic. I did not get the graphic I got a page or two of garbled text.
Thanks for your reply

Hi Lynda,

I'm not sure how you opened the graphic in Word (sounds like you used File->Open, which would have the same effect that you describe) - to insert the image, in Word select Insert->Picture->From File and select your image.

I've been trying to work out what is happening for you when you try to copy from a webpage, but my work PC is pretty dodgy and keeps running out of memory. I'll have another bash at it tonight and see how I go...

Another method you might consider is using IEs "Save As->Webpage Complete" option - basically saves the HTML and all the images onto your PC so that you can view the page offline. You can then use Word to edit and save as a Word document.

Arion23. Thankyou very much. Yes like a twit I was opening it in word. It took me a couple of attempts to do what you said. I had to change some of the graphics to .bmp to get them to work. You are a life saver, even though this takes more steps than the old way at least now I can get graphics from the Web.
Once again I truly thank you.
Lynda
