Fellow Tek Friends,

How do I copy a Lotus Notes R5 database that contains thousands of documents? The database is on a server that I access through my computer. Then I need to transfer the data onto an external hard drive or disk or other storage device - whichever is recommended. Do I need to convert the Lotus Notes database into some other type of file first? How do I do this?

Many thanks!

So you wish to copy the contents of a Notes db to an external storage unit.

The question is : is that content supposed to be accessed with something other than Notes ?

Because you can very well make a Notes copy of a Notes database and read it with a Notes client, without accessing the server.

So, what is exactly the reason for this copy ? Backup ? Or transfer to someone that does not have a Notes client and needs the documents ?

Pascal.

I've got nothing to hide, and I'd very much like to keep that away from prying eyes.

Yes as Pascal says, depends what you want to do with it once you've copied it.

To copy the database, all you need to do is File>Database>New Copy and choose to make a LOCAL copy. Then browse to the drive you want to save it on.

Assuming you have sufficient access to the database (at least Editor level)
