I have two databases, one local and the other remote. I created a dts package to copy tables from remote to the local server. I clicked on save package before hitting the finish button. It saved the DTS package on the remote server although i was in the local server and importing from the remote server. I have 2 questions namely

1) Why did it store the package in remote server and
2) How can i copy this package from remote to my local server and have it execute from here.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If you open the package from the machine that you save it on, you will be able to do a PACKAGE / SAVE AS. You then have the option of selecting a Server, if your other server is on the same network then just select it (or enter it's name / IP address) and then save it.

You can then execute it from either hachine.

Be careful that your SQL Server sources have been named and that you haven't just used (local) as the server name, else you will have errors.

Hope that this helps.
