Copies of a multi-user database are being created automatically with the number 1 following the name. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can prevent this from happening?
One of your users is probably copying the database and putting it in the same folder. You might want to check with your users and see if they are using the system correctly.
I had thought that initially too, but I checked with everyone. This is also happening to another Access XP database we have. Any configurations I should have set?
Are there any strange functions or code running in the database? Are there adequate permissions on the folder or share? Is there any correlation to the frequency of the copy and compacting?
This sounds like one of the new features of Office XP.
When an error occurs with an Access XP database that requires Access to quit, Office automatically makes a backup copy of the file, which it can use to auto-recover. These backups are given the original file-name and a number, starting at 1.
Check with your users to ensure that they are closing the database correctly, and whether they have had any exception errors while operating the db.
I'm getting same problem. Have a SQL database and Access 2000 Project front end currently on same machine. When I copy the Access project to another PC the stored procedure names have ";1" appended. Tried to create new Project against same database and got the same result.
You must be able to have 2 Access Projects pointing to a single SQL database, right?
