Hi everyone,

I was always wondering what do professionals do to photos. I mean when I see a model calendar it seems to have a bluish cast, photos looks soft but are not, they look like cross processed yet no colours are funny.

Does anyone knows what they do? In the url below please find a photo of a pop star to help you understand what I mean.
I suspect it`s something done using PhotoShop.

Thanks

Mario

Hi,

You could easily simulate that effect by taking a photo, make a new layer, file it with blue, change the blending mode to color and reducing the opacity to 5-10% or lower and then you will get a slight blue tinge to the image. You could also goto hue/saturation (Ctrl+U) and select blues from the dropdown and add a bit more saturation to the blues, not much, then goto levels (Ctrl+L), select blues from the drop down and add a darker cast to it by sliding the left hand slider in and the middle sliderto the left a bit.

Hope this helps!

Nate
