Hi all,

It seems that my internet explorer is unable to accept cookies from intranet sites as well as internet sites when I am accessing the pages.

I have set my privacy settings to the lowest and restarted my PC. However, I am still unable to browse or login to the 'cookies-enabled' site.

Please help.

Thankx.

Rgds,
Natashas

Hi Natashas

Microsoft Newsgroups absolutely FULL of complaints regarding Q313675 patch...Lots of explanations why, but few answers..

Here's a longshot..maybe overlooked?

Privacy tab | Advanced button
1) Place a check in "Override automatic cookie handling"
2) 1st party = Accept - 3rd party = Accept
3) Place a check in "Always allow session cookies", click Apply\Ok

Hi Smitee,

Thanks for your prompt response. Think there is something wrong with the latest patch or watever.

However, my problem has been solved.

It's due to the name of the server which has underscore in the naming.

Please refer to MSN KB Q275033

Cheers,
Natashas

Thanks for feedback...That info was also in thread..

Natashas. this is just ONE of many posts describing problem. Your post led me to believe it was almost all sites for which a "cookie" is required.

excerpt
...."The patch prevents the workstation from downloading any cookies from a
server name that has an underscore in it........

Glad you have it under control

Hi Smitee,

To be exact, the thread that I am talking about is:

Another method to workard is to edit the hosts file in the system so that the IP address relates to the name..

Eg: 192.168.2.78 tango_server

Changed it to:
192.168.2.78 tangoserver

From IE, to view the page, simple key in :

would be able to view the desired pages.

But the setback is that all hosts file on all workstations has to be changed to suit the unchanged web server name.

It can be configured using login script.

Hence, changing of the web server name is still the best option out.

cheers,
Natashas
