Cookie Issue

Hello All,

I'm using client-side JavaScript to set the cookies. These cookies are set on page home.mycompanyname.com/index.html.

After clicking on the link from the above page it will go

http://devpc1/Reporter/index.jsp

But Reporter application is not finding the cookies though "devpc1" box is associated with mycompanyname.com domain.

Really appreciate any suggestions to identify the problems.

How is it "associated"? The URL hasn't got any part of the same domain in, so you might be out of luck.

What happens if you fully qualify the URL, e.g.:

http://devpc1.mycompanyname.com/Reporter/index.jsp

?

And what properties you set for the cookies ? Because by default they are not shared with documents from other domains, you have to explicitly specify that.

I used to suggest the related Wikipedia article "HTTP cookie" for more informations on cookies.

Thanks for the reponse.

When I do "nslookup devpc1" from the command prompt it is returning "devpc1.mycompanyname.com". I think it indicates this box is associated with mycompanyname.com domain.

When I try "

http://devpc1.mycompanyname.com/Reporter/index.jsp"

it is converting to "

http://devpc1/Reporter/index.jsp

Does not matter. The domain name seen by the browser must be identical.

As Dan wrote, check the [tt]document.domain[/tt], that must be identical.
