Converting

Hi there,
Is there any application or tool that converts a directory full of paradox tables into MS Access or SQL Server tables in a database?

It would be great if it's a free application

I think it will, with the proper ODBC drivers.

Have a look at

and search for 'ODBC'. I believe one of the articles addresses opening Access files, but it can be about SQL as well. Then I think you just copy a table to the ODBC type and it gets converted automagically.

I've not done this, but have read a bunch on the pnews newsgroup about it.

If you go that route, and have Windows XP sp2, you'll want to get at least Paradox 11. sp2 broke the ability to interactively 'see' remote tables (SQL specifically) interactively.

Can you not open the tables in Access and then save them as you require?

Lewy, I can, but it will take ages since there are too many tables.

I think even Access has rudimentary programmatic control, so you can script the opening/saving to be automagic.
