What is the easiest way to convert a word doc (MS word x) into PDF? I installed the 5.05 acrobat update, but the feature is not available in OSX. How much longer do I wait for adobe to support osx fully? backward compatability is not so good if it never pushes the new technology ahead....

Huh? From any application in OSX I can do a file and print. In the print dialog, I can choose to do a preview. The preview that is created is actually a PDF, presented in the native OSX doc viewer. Simply save the preview as a PDF and you are done. I dont' have Acrobat. I just use OSX's native PDF support.

hmmm... okey dokey.... I was helpding someone else that I though new at least a little bit about what they where talking about...I'll try that..

I am not a mac user, so sorry for the dumb question

I think thats where i am having a problem. I don't have save as PDF as an option anywhere. I will go check again. thanks for the fast reply.

this is for a mac user at work. I am not a mac user, so its kinda tricky for me, and he doesnt know much about anything like this.

but yeah, i havent seen any option for saving the preview as pdf, but i will check.

You did not have a dumb question. Not being a Mac user, now that's just plain goofy!

Seriously...

There still should be some way to use the full Acrobat program. Although the Distiller still runs in Classic, I'm sure enough tinkering will get it to work. It is supposed to work according to Adobe.

I would just try the print preview trick for instant gratification.

I don't use MS Word X but if it is anything like Word 2000 (PC), can you do a print preview from Word directly and/or a print preview from the Print dialog for the printer? Try both locations.

I may be able to pull this off because of my particular printer driver. I doubt that is the case because my printer is not extraordinary. It is not even a PostScript printer.

You can run Acrobat in classic with a watched folder and print from X using any old printer driver to file to the watched folder...

ok...I got it....

file->print...->Output Options->Save as PDF.

I was doing file->Print Preview...

and getting stuck there.

thanks a LOT!
