Converting Word to HTML without loosing references?

I am converting 9 word documents into an HTML Help file. I have a master document which contains the table of contents for the other 8 documents. The table of contents is automatically generated by word. Is there anyway to have it so when word converts the documents to HTML it maintains the link between the table of contents and the files it references?
