Converting VHS to mpeg1 or avi

I have imported a VHS movie on my miniDV cam and then captured on my Mac. I wanted to use the movie on computers, so mpeg1 or avi. Do I have to deinterlace the file? If yes how do I do that?

Do you have a program called IFilm or Idvd installed? Or at least Quicktime Pro?

I have dvd studio pro, quick time and final cut 3 pro.
