I am trying to use the DTS wizard to export a SQL Server Database to MS Access. One main error was that I could not transfer schema to Access unless a server was specified.
The simple task of taking for example the pubs database from SQL and exporting to Access became quite tedious.

The solution lay in Access. Go to File>Get External Data>Import Select ODBC Data as filetype, Select Machine Data Source. One key to remember you must have an ODBC connection to the database present. Once the DSN is selected the rest was quite easy!

In Access: You can use this to set a DSN from code automatically. If you put it in the Autoexec macro, it will be done every time. (Previous DSN's are overwritten):

DBEngine.RegisterDatabase

check it out in the Help.
Cheers
