I have got some .cap-files which have been created with the NAI sniffer version 4.5. What I urgently need is a tool to convert these files into ASCII or Excel. What I have already found is some software to convert this stuff to .cap-files of other vendors, but I need ASCII-format to generate Excel-sheets.

Can anyone help? Thank you very much in advance!

Either use the Print to File option within the Sniffer or use tethereal (nicer from the command prompt).

You may want to check some of the info on my site ( 'How To" or "Presentations" for more info.

Hope this helps..

There is a program called ProConvert which will allow you to convert .cap to any number of different vendors (including Snoop) as well as ASCII. I think you could go to Axial ( to get an evaluation copy.

Enjoy
