I have many old Crystal Queries (QRY) from Crystal 8.0 I would like to have these converted to Crystal XI, but it no longer supports the QRY files. It says I need business views, but I believe those are part of Crystal Enterprise, which I don't own. I guess I could convert them to SQL views -- anyone have any better ideas?

Your idea is much better than BUsiness Views anyway.

Consider that you've already been burned by virtue of using a proprietary Crystal technology, converting to Business Views would likely prove to be the same process.

Create database objects unless you have an important reason to use a proprietary technology. Database Views/Stored Procedures will be available to any tool, whereas Business Views will be limited to those products using the API or BO products.

You can put in your own command when setting up the data source.

Add a data source, then select add command instead of picking a table. I believe you can type in free form SQL in there. I have not done it, but that is what my boss described to me.
