Hello

I was wondering whether you can convert 3d drawings from AutoCAD 2006 into Autodesk Revit 8. I have been drawing my company's drawings in Autocad and now they have switched to Revit and I just thought it would be easier to just convert from one to the other. Another question is whether you can convert from Revit to AutoCAD and how I would do that.

Thanks in advance

Jessica

Yes you can convert from a Autocad dwg with 3D properties to Revit. Dont try to use open because while Architectural Desktop is bsed off the Autocad engine, revit is an animal of its own. Here are the steps:

1)Open Revit 8
2)Go to the file pull down menu and choose import/link
3)Select dwg/dxf/dgn/sat... option
4)Your drawing will appear. You may have to zoom in.
5)Hit save and it will want to save the imported dwg in Revit's file format, which is a project file, .rvt. Hit save.

Hope that helps.
