I'd like to know how to do that, someone send me this information. But I can't find these plug ins

Saving documents for use with InDesign 2.0

You can export InDesign CS documents in InDesign Interchange format (.INX) for compatibility with InDesign 2.0. To open these documents in version 2.0, you'll need to obtain and install the Scripting plug-in and the XML Reader plug-in. You can obtain these plug-ins from the Adobe Web site.

This excerpt from the help file is in error. If you examine the read_me.pdf file that came with InDesign CS, you would find that it is impossible to save down to a lesser version. The help file was authored long before the final build of InDesign CS shipped. Adobe forgot to correct the help file but they corrected themselves in the read_me file.

So it's impossible? I have 2.0 at work and CS at home and I emailed a document from work to finish at home and now I can't open it again at work. ARRGH! Also, I have MAC at home and WIN at work but that didn't seem to bother it. Is there no way to go between versions?

lsdphoto, what part was not believable? Did you read the 'InDesign CS ReadMe.pdf' file?

For those that can't find their 'InDesign CS ReadMe.pdf' file...

3. ADDITIONAL NOTES
User guide and help documentation errata

The InDesign CS user guide and help documentation includes information on using the InDesign Interchange format export option to save documents for use with InDesign 2.0. This information should be disregarded, as this export option does not support InDesign 2.0 compatibility. Opening InDesign CS documents is not supported in InDesign 2.0.

Sorry. I believe it. I'm an artist and I don't use this program much so I haven't read anything about it and I was hoping to avoid it. I was just doing this one thing and then I couldn't even do that! I just won't do it again. Thank you for your time and expertise. Blessings, L

Lucky for you, you are already updated to CS at home. Now its time to ask the boss to spend a little to update at work. You can compare the features between what you see at home with what you are stuck with at work and make an easy sell to your boss.
