Converting data from EBCIDIC to ASCII ?? 1

We are developing an MIS Credit card system.All the input feeds are from Mainframes. The format is in EBCDIC. Before loading into my system which is running in sun solaris i need to convert this file to ASCII.

What are all the tools available in market, which should run in solaris to convert the file from EBCIDIC to ASCII.

Is there any way to handle this requirement?

Note:
Peformance wise, the tool should be average to good, becos my file size is 1GB.

Any suggestion is highly appreciated

i have used dd with conv=ascii to copy ebsdic tapes to disk files (man dd should show this) and conv=ebcdic to make tapes from disk files. I see no reason dd could not work disk to disk, although I admit I never have. I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
