I have an image with a white background and I'd like to make the background transparent. Can anyone help?

I've tried doing it via the replace color tool but transparency doesn't seem to be in the options.

Thanks!

...use select > color range...

...select the white areas using the eye dropper tool, click ok...

...make the background layer an actual layer by double clicking it...

...invert the selection and delete it...

...correction, you may not need to invert the selection as i mentioned, just hit delete...

...if this removes too much white in the image itself, adjust the fuziness setting in color range and try again...

...if this fails, try the extract tool, or alternatively cut it out with the path tool and make the path a selection, feather the selection if need be...

...another way is to create a selection froma channel, duplicate the channel with the most contrast, adjust it using levels or curves, hold the control/apple key and click the created channel to load as a selection, make the background layer an actual layer by double cliking it,hit delete...

Thanks, I tried it with the color range and it works great!
