Hi! First of all, I'm a noob in this field. I bought the 7941 IP phone off fleabay and I would like to use it as a VOIP phone at home - the phone is currently in factory reset mode. I am trying to convert it to a SIP phone (I have the SIP image files). I understand I have to create a tftp server and put the SIP files in there and then the phone will download them. There are some tftp freeware programs
out there (eg. pumpkin) but I don't know how to make the tftp server communicate with the phone (or vice-versa). My current configuration: XP w/ Netgear router. My questions are:

1. How do I set up the router in order to make the tftp server communicate with the phone (do I open certain ports, etc)

2. Does the sip image need some manual configuration before placing it in the tftp server?

3. Is this a correct SIP image:

First thing is SIP image looks fine. Did you manually configure your ip phone with a ip and TFTP server address? If not then you will also need a dhcp server that gives the phone an ip and then points it to the tftp server.
