I have a monochrome technical drawing in jpg format that I need converted to a vector so that I can distort the perspective without it losing resolution. Is there any way to do this in Photoshop, short of tracing it over?

If you have illustrator you can take it over there, do a Live Trace (you have to tweak settings etc.)

Then bring back to Photoshop as a Smart Object (place a saved illustrator file - a ".ai" file into photoshop) The smart object is converted to raster on output.

You can keep the vector alive if you change the persepctive in Illustrator using the 3D tools.

If you have illustrator I'll be happy to help.

If you don't you could send me the photoshop file, i could attempt a live trace for you and send you the result for you to play with in photoshop.

Sounds like a plan. A friend has illustrator and I'll try this on his computer. thanks!
