I am converting some complicated shell scripts from UNIX V5 to Red Hat 7.3 or later. I learned many interesting things such as I have to use start and stop in lp to hold a printer and allow it to keep spooling. In UNIX I used enable and disable to do the same thing. I'm sure there are many other interesting surprises such as this. Is there anyplace I can find information that will help. I hate trial and error and fumbling, when I know I'm not the only person doing this kind of thing.
