When converting Access 97 application to Access 2000 application, we converted all occurrences of Database and Recordset to DAO.Database or DAO.Recordset to query from Excel.

Will we have to do this in all Access 97 to Access 2000 conversions?

Is this the best way to solve DAO compatibility problems?

The alternative to changing Database and Recordset to DAO.Database or DAO.Recordset is simply to shift your refence to DAO 3.6 above that to ADO in your database references. Giving the DAO reference a higher priority, if you will, ensures that any contentious objects (e.g. Database, Recordset, etc) will be assumed to be DAO rather than ADO.

I'm now going to add that not explicitly adding "DAO." is probably bad practice, in the hope that this will prevent other Forum members posting messages to deride this suggestion for that very reason. [pc2]
