Converting A/W from Quark to AI9

I am a relatively new user for AI 9 and know nothing about Quark. I was given a project to do where i have to create a tape cover in AI 9 using ready-made, artwork files from Quark express (saved on CD). I do have to produce artwork in AI9 as printing place is not used to quark either!

can i just easily cut-paste images/ texts from Quark to AI9? what do i need to do? any fast methods?

You must first save the page as an EPS (File ->Save page as EPS), then open that EPS in Illustrator. You will notice that all your text lines will be broken into little bits of type 2-3 letters long, so make sure you do text editing in Quark.
