I have a column that contains numbers, but they are formatted as special Chinese (PRC). I need these to be text.

Example: 000001 and 340781658648631, if I convert these to numbers, the 0's are trimmed off, but I need to keep them. If I convert to text, they are also trimmed off.

I tried using the text function, but can't seem to make that work either. Not all my numbers have leading zero's, but they are all different character lengths.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi,

Check out faq68-6659.

Then we can 'talk.'

Checked out your link. Thank you. Converting my 'identifiers' to text from the Chinese format trims off all the zero's.

You can restore zeroes using the TEXT function.
