I have an R5 database that I need to convert to a Version 4.57 database. If I open the current database in 4.57 it errors with "Invalid NSF version". Any suggestions on how I can get this to work in 4.57? Thanks.

I don't think that you are going to have much luck with it unless you have a R4.5.7 template for the database. If you do, you can replace it's design. If it is a database which someone has created for you, it is probably going to contain references etc which R.4.5.7 do not support. Hope this answers your query. Lamaar75@hotmail.com

The reason you have this message is that the database is compacted into R5 format and therefore cannot be opened via an R4 client. This has nothing at all to so with the design, you can open a R4 database via an R5 client. The problem lays when you have an R5 design and opening it with an R4 client, but this doesn't appear to be your problem.
To revert the database back to R4 format run compact on the database with the -R switch which will revert it back to R4 format. If you want the database to remain at R4 format rename the file with the NS4 extension. You will then be able to open it from an R4 client.
