Hi

I want to convert my calling number from 10 digit to 4 digit when sending out to Service Provider. I am using SIp trunk ans right now when i am sending 10 digit calling number, outbound calls are not going through. How can I make a translation to do that?
Can someone help me with it ?

There are different ways of doing this depending on what you want to do and why

Translations
Route Patterns
Route Groups

Changes to numbers effect the CDR output- is this a concern?

Any changes to a dialled number done at the either the translation level or Route Patterns results in the number appearing in the CDR database is the translated/ modified number i.e user dials 10 digits the changed number appears as 4

Changed done in the Route group user dials 10 digits , 10 digits appear in the CDR database

Easy way is to change it is on your route pattern to make use of the predot?

9.12125551234

You only want to send the 1234 so move the "." to 91212555.xxxx and use Predot

Or keep the same route patterns but do not have predot on the Route Pattern but on the route group

I forgot to mention that i did achieve it on the gateway using translation patterns. What you mentioned was to convert called number but i was looking to translate the calling number......Again thanks for ur reply...
