I have some text still in the original font, and another paragraph I 'converted to outlines' The two text blocks don't look EXACTLY the same. they are close, but when printing and viewing on screen. the converted ones seem bolder. When I zoom to be VERY large, they look identical?

Any ideas? I am stumped!!!!

It's a visual thing on screen. They SHOULD print the same. I've never had a problem with the printing, and have just gotten used to the on-screen look.

Onscreen image will look different since your font rendering software no longer recognizes a font. Make sure no default stroke was picked up in the conversion. If you're printing to a postscript printer, keep in mind that you've lost your font printing as well as screen rendering advantages. The difference, however, should be negligible. It's not a bad idea to keep a "working" Illustrator file as backup, with fonts intact, in case you need to make text revisions.

Also, recent versions of Illustrator (9.0 and up) can embed fonts into the file, which mean you don't necessarily have to create outlines. It will make the file bigger, however. Or you could save as PDF instead of EPS, which does much the same thing, and Quark and (I believe) InDesign will place and print PDF images.
