Convert text box to path problem in QE-4/ Windows

I saw in a manual on Quark-4 that text boxes/circles can be converted to paths and then have text flow around the inside or outside of the shape. I tried to do as was described, creating the text box or crcle and then converting with the bezier or line tool, but nothing happens..

Any ideas???
