convert string to short string and back again...

hi, is it possible to convert a string of 20 chars like...

10765589346512987111

To a short string of 10 chars like...

af127ac455

and back again?

Does not need to be secure, just need to convert a long string into a short string to be used on a 3 of 9 barcode
and then back again the other end!

Please can anyone advise?

try hexdec and dechex functions,

After converting to hex, add leading zeros if you need exactly 10 digits.
