I have created a web site which is basically a catalogue for a company supplying Industrial Cleaning Machines.

They have asked me if there is any way I can provide the site on a CD so that they can send them out instead of catalogues.

They would want it to Auto Run and without a browser window.

Is this possible?

Any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation.

I can help with the autorun part. It will always be in a browser window though. You can do such things as make it fullscreen and remove all the menus and toolbars etc. Is this what you mean?

will post the autorun part in a jiffy. Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)

[autorun]
open=pc_proj.exe
icon=pc_icon.ico

This file should be named autorun.inf and must be placed in the root (first-level directory) of the CD

The part in bold is where you would put the name of your file. I have only used this with projector files so I am assuming it will open an html also.

the icon file is if you want to designate an icon for the desktop or whatever. Ya' Gotta Love It!:)X-)

Tulsa Jeff,

Thanks.

Yes, I would want as little of the browser window as possible - how would I do this?

Where you have put pc_proj.exe what should I replace it with? The name of the index file?

Sorry to be so thick - its a new area to me.

At the moment I do not have a CD Writer, so I may have to come back if I have further queires.

There was a similar thread I just read, Eclipse33 created an executable version of a website using webcompiler ( - you could add this executable to your autorun.inf file. Not sure how the site would then be presented (I don't think it would be through a browser tho) as I havn't used it myself, but it may be what you are after.

Many thanks. I have had a quick look at the webcompiler and on cursory glance I think it could be the answer.

Would like to know how to create an autorun.inf. Also what software do i need to create this format with, and do I need any the shell tools.

the autorun.inf file is easy...just put the code I mentioned above in a notepad file which is plain text and name it autorun.inf

simply save the file in the root directory of your cd.

I am not so familiar with how to make exe files from a set of html pages. I use Flash on my cd's which automatically creates my exe file for me.

There have been several suggestions on how to accomplish this feat...one of them being webcompiler...mentioned above also. Ya' Gotta Love It!
