People,

Can Illustrator convert a scanned drawing into a vector-based drawing, (i.e. create paths out of hand drawn linestrokes)?

Or, is there a plug-in which can accomplish this?

The reason I ask is; In my present position, in which I oversee architectural standards for a private community...I am in the process of converting architectural standards into AutoCAD drawings. About a half dozen of these drawings are of a 3-D perspective; & although there are of good quality (the linestrokes are linear & the detail is uniform), they would take forever to reconstruct in CAD.

I know that Illustrator drawings can be converted into AutoCAD drawings; & I thought maybe if I could define paths in Illustrator, I could convert to CAD easily.

Thanks very much,

BTW - If Illustrator could do this, it would also come in handy for other graphic work I do, as well. Thanks

Des,

There have been two other topics posted here in the last 10 days or so that touch on this topic and have been answered pretty thoroughly. One is called "Logo in jpg to .ai format?" and the other is called "How do you vector images?". Check there for the answer to your question. It seems you would have come across them already by researching your question a little in this forum before posting your question.
