I am in the midst of converting a large school district over from Lotus Notes to GW 6.5. I know this question will come up. Is there a way to convert their present address books and email from Notes over to GW? I am the trainer, not the tech staff handling the tech conversion.

Thanks in advance.

That's a start! Thanks so much...

In GW, under File/Import POP3/IMap, there is a GroupWise e-mail Client Import Utility. Anyone know if that would also work? Anyone ever used it?

Thanks in Advance...

Thanks..I was hoping for a magic bullet...a freebie inside GW 6.5 but will check out your suggestion, just in case...

nothing in GW I am aware of to handle this.

For the Address book, if you can export it as a CSV, then manipulate it to match the NAB format that GroupWise uses (make an entry, then export it to see what you need) you could import the NAB's for your users.

Not sure about calendar.
Emails will probably need a tool to do, and honestly I would not reccomend it. The WHY is simple: loss of single instance storage. Your 20GB post office could triple in size (or worse) which can cause tertiary effects (backup issues, storage issues, etc). If it is possible to leave the old system up and reachable for the near term, I would try and go that route. Migrating all the mail over is just not a great idea. IMHO that is.

ps: very profound signature. ;)

Thanks, Itsmyfault. School district admnistrators are a different breed. I am not the tech on this project, merely the trainer (and we are doing a Train-the-Trainer program with them too). They want their "stuff" converted! So, I am trying to find a solution that is cheap and easy. They won't do it probably but will have their secretaries convert it for them. The only thing we are interested in doing is converting their address books and email. Other than remailing all their email to their new address, I would love to find an easier, less time-consuming way.

In Groupwise, there is: File/Import Pop3/IMAP4. When you select it, it looks like it will go to another email package on your system. I can't test it since I only have GW. Anyone know what this does?

You may like my sig file but I like your name. Maybe I should have picked: IDidntDoIt!

Thanks!

It might be late for your needs but we converted from Notes to GW6.5 a few years back.

This tool helped convert Notes to GW folders. Its not free, unfortunately

Thanks..I will pass this on to the district.
